'Gone With the Wind'' memo from producer David O. Selznick to the film's first director George Cukor regarding the casting of Ashley Wilkes. Selznick is impressed with the actor John Paige in this memo dated 26 September 1938, asking Cukor to watch Paige's screen test, ''JOHN PAIGE (Ashley candidate)...I saw a test of John Paige who has been suggested for Ashley. I thought he was quite good, even though I recognized that the power was really in the scene. However, since Paige has been highly recommended, I should appreciate your seeing the test (and, possibly Paige) and checking my opinion. / D.O.S.''
