Rare booklet from the Statue of Liberty unveiling ceremony on 28 October 1886, an event that captivated the American imagination, attended by President Grover Cleveland and other dignitaries. Booklet is the address by host Chauncey M. Depew, with his stamp on front cover ''Compliments of Chauncey M. Depew''. A portion of the address reads in part, ''We dedicate this statue to the friendship of nations and the piece of the world. The spirit of liberty embraces all races in common brotherhood...'' Measures 6'' x 9'' and runs 34pp., with a frontispiece portrait of the Statue. Covers detached from staple binding, else very good condition.
