1) Autograph note signed by Postmaster General William Dennison, Jr. who writes 15 August 1865 on Post Office Department letterhead, responding positively to an autograph request. Trimmed to a size of 4.5'' x 5.25'' and mounted to card. Good condition.
2) Signature of Edwin M. Stanton on the verso, signed as Secretary of War under Abraham Lincoln. Stanton would also go onto serve as Supreme Court Justice in President U.S. Grant's administration. Clipped signature measures 4'' x 1'', mounted to card. Good condition.
