Mexican President Porfirio Diaz boldly signs a patent application for a refrigerated railroad car, ''Porfirio Diaz''. Dated 7 June 1888, document is enclosed in a booklet of application documents, which includes a line drawing submitted by Agustin Reyes for the ''Ridgway refrigerator car.'' An extensive modern railroad system was a goal of Diaz's regime. 6pp. plus drawing and newspaper segment are bound by a single brad. Significant chipping to 8.75'' x 14'' cover; minor soiling and toning to internal pages. Overall very good.
