Margaret Mitchell signed first edition, second printing of her masterpiece ''Gone With The Wind,'' published by Macmillan: New York: 1936. She inscribes the front free endpaper: ''To Emmakate Vretman / from / Margaret Mitchell / Atlanta, GA. / Oct. 2, 1936'' in bold script. Her Pulitzer Prize-winning epic novel, set in the American South during the Civil War and Reconstruction, became the classic film of the same name. Runs 1037pp. Bound in green cloth boards with blue print lettering. Measures 6.25'' x 8.75''. Cocked, with wear to the edges of spine, boards and exterior hinges. Toning to leaves and pencil notations to front free endpaper. Very good. A scarce signed first edition of an American classic.
