"March on Washington for Jobs & Freedom" collection, including the iconic pin worn by participants in the historic 29 August 1963 march, including Martin Luther King, Jr. and other civil rights leaders who led the march. When King delivered his ''I Have a Dream Speech'' from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, such a pin is prominently displayed on his lapel. The 2'' button, illustrated with clasped black and white hands, reads: ''March on Washington for Jobs & Freedom / August 28, 1963''. Lot also includes a $10 commemorative ticket to a midnight service held on 27 August at the United Church of Christ in New York City and which was followed by a bus departing for the march immediately after. Includes four items from the church service, including the Midnight service program dated 27 August 1963, measuring 6'' x 9'' and three additional sheets detailing the event. Some toning, overall very good plus.
