The author inscribes the front free endpaper in black ink: ''For Barbara Franks / with all good wishes always / Ernest Hemingway.'' Hemingway resided in Cuba, Key West and Idaho while he wrote this Pulitzer Prize nominated novel about a soldier in the Spanish Civil War. Runs 410pp. Black leather boards measure 6'' x 8''. Surface loss to board edges and corners, and base and top of spine. Toning to leaves. Very good. With PSA/DNA COA.
