Irish independence circular, issued on 28 June 1922, the first day of the Irish Civil War. This Proclamation was issued by the Army Executive on behalf of the Irish Republican Army, with 13 printed signatories. Divided over the Anglo-Irish Treaty resolution, Ireland's civil war was waged between the Provisional Government led by Michael Collins, and the Republican militants under Eamon de Valera. Reads in part: ''...Gallant soldiers of the Irish Republic stand rigorously firm in its defence and worthily uphold their noblest traditions...'' 1pp. proclamation measures 8'' x 10.25'' with minor toning and folds. Very good.
