Broadside from the end of the English Civil War announcing a national day of humiliation. Issued on 17 March 1648 by Parliament rather than by the King, it's titled, ''An Act of the Commons of England Assembled in Parliament'' and reads in part: ''...Thursday the 19th day of April, 1649 shall be observed and kept in all Parishes and other places in England and Wales, a solemn day of fasting, prayer, and humiliation, for the aforementioned sins, and all other abominations whereof this Nation is guilty...'' Parliament would rule England through the Interregnum until Restoration in 1660. 9.75'' x 12.75'' broadside is printed by Edward Husband. Light foxing, toning and creasing. Mounted to paper to an overall size of 11.25'' x 18.5''. Very good.
