Stephen King typed letter signed, dated 24 July 1976, on his personal letterhead. He writes to Ms. Merrill Skrocki at Doubleday, the publisher of his popular early novels, ''Carrie'' and ''Salem's Lot,'' congratulating her on a new job. The single page letter reads in part, ''...I just wanted to wish you the best of luck, although I expect luck didn't have all that much to do with landing the new job...I'll miss your cheerful voice at the other end of the phone. I hope you'll drop a line once in awhile, so Tabby [his wife, Tabitha] and I will know that you're getting along well...So...congrats on the new gig, and all the best from Tabby and myself. Keep well and hold onto your sunny disposition. Repeat, all the best, [signed] Steve''. Light toning to 8.5'' x 11'' letter; moderate toning to accompanying envelope with King's address sticker affixed. Overall very good.
