John Adams 1799 invitation to the President's House in Philadelphia. Before the Adams moved into the newly completed White House in 1800, they, like the Washingtons, occupied the President's House. The partially printed invitation reads in full, "The President of the United States, & Mrs Adams requests the Pleasure of Miss Jones's Company to Dine, on Thursday next, at two o'clock. / Sept 13th 1799 / An answer is requested." Minor foxing to 4.5" x 3" invitation, else very good. Beautifully matted and framed in navy and gilt to an overall size of 15" x 13.75".
