Napoleon's General Edme Aime Lucotte autograph letter signed. Datelined Paris, 9 November 1819, French letter discusses the enigmatic disappearance of some correspondence. In part, "…I was…surprised that I didn’t receive a response to the letter that I sent you…on the 3rd of this month…as it is customary in France to be polite by responding…to a commanding General…The riddle is solved…I did not stamp the letter…It is a riddle that I cannot explain…" Lucotte's name appears on the Arc De Triomphe in Paris. 1pp. on card-style stationery measures 8" x 10". Mild foxing to the left edge at fold, else near fine condition. Accompanied by full translation.
