Official admission ticket for the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge. Printed on tan cardstock, ticket measures approximately 6.5'' x 2.75'' and reads in full, ''Opening Ceremonies / New York and Brooklyn Bridge, May twenty fourth, 1883. Admit One. This ticket must be presented at the entrance.'' ''Tiffany & Co.'' is printed at the bottom. An embossed decorative seal reading ''NY & BB'' represents the original name of the bridge: New York and Brooklyn Bridge. Several thousand people attended the opening and President Chester Arthur crossed the then longest suspension bridge in the world with the mayor of New York. Light toning and soiling; very good condition.
