Johnny Carson five-piece drum set cases. The ''Tonight Show'' host received a five-piece Ludwig drum set from jazz musician Buddy Rich, who had played the drums on the ''Tonight Show.'' Rich was a good friend and Carson's most frequent guest on the show. The drums were an important part of Carson's life; he was seen playing them during a look at his private life on a 1978 CBS ''60 Minutes'' TV show. Set of cases consists of three round cases measuring 16'' x 11'', 20'' x 18'', 26'' x 18'', and two rectangular cases measuring 22'' x 11'' and 25'' x 11''. All bear address labels from NBC in New York to Carson at his address in Las Vegas. Significant wear to surface of cases; some leather straps are severed with buckles missing.
