True first state of the book with the publisher's seal present on the copyright page and no disclaimer on verso of dedication page. Described as the greatest war novel of all time, the semi-autobiographical work sets the tragedy of a doomed romance against the backdrop of World War I and its destruction. 355pp. book with gold paper labels on black cloth boards measures 5.5'' x 7.5'', without the dustjacket. Light toning throughout and minor separation of binding at pastedowns. Overall very good plus condition.
