Grammy award won by Koko Taylor, the woman whose raw and powerful vocals earned her the nickname ''Queen of the Blues''. Nominated for 11 Grammy's over the course of her career, Taylor took home this singular Grammy in 1984 for ''Best Traditional Blues Recording'' for her contribution of ''Wang Dang Doodle'' to the ''Blues Explosion'' album. In addition to her voice, Taylor is also remembered for her incredible stage performances and her reluctance to reign in her voice and persona for crossover appeal. Ironically, her talents have become even more appreciated over time as a result. Plaque on front of award reads ''National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences / Koko Taylor / Best Traditional Blues Recording - 1984 / 'Blues Explosion (Album)'''. Wooden base measures 4.75'' square, with total height measuring 6.5''. Replacement plaque in the style of the original and professional repair to metal arm. Some discoloration to horn, more so on its interior. Very good condition. Grammy is accompanied by another award given to Taylor, the ''Chicago Blues Legacy Award'', ''In recognition of significant contributions to the presentation of the Blues tradition.''
