FBI Wanted Poster for Angela Davis, alias ''Tamu'', a member of the Black Panthers and fugitive wanted on kidnapping and murder charges for the Marin County Civic Center attacks on 7 August 1970. Though Davis was not present at the attacks, the guns used were bought by her. As a result, a warrant for her arrest was issued on 15 August, shortly before this FBI poster was printed and displayed at the New Long, Connecticut Post Office. Davis was arrested on 13 October 1970 but ultimately acquitted of the charges. After the trial she segued to academics, becoming the Distinguished Professor Emerita of Feminist Studies and History of Consciousness at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Poster measures 10.5'' x 16''. With typed address of New London, CT Postmaster on verso, as well as the stamp of the Postmaster's office, confirming the poster was received at New London on 18 August 1970. Shallow folds and minor soiling, overall near fine condition.
