Gerald Ford autograph letter signed from 24 March 1978, just days after Israel invaded Lebanon in the 1978 South Lebanon Conflict. Ford shares his opinion of the situation with the letter's recipients, Arthur and Tova Leidesdorf, obliquely critiquing President Jimmy Carter's handling of the Middle East until that point. Letter reads in part,
''...The discussions at the luncheon about the tragic developments in the Middle East were enlightening - I do hope the new Administration shows more understanding of Israel's problems. Our two nations must not destroy a superb relationship of almost 30 years...Jerry Ford''.
Composed on Ford's personal stationery with the Great Seal at top, single page letter measures 6.375'' x 8.5'', mounted to slightly larger black mat. Light foxing and minor fading, overall very good condition. Accompanied by original envelope.
