Project Mercury ''Capsule Flight Operations Manual'', #SEDR 109 dated 1 September 1961, published by McDonnell Aircraft Corp. for Capsules 10, 13 and 16-20. Rare handbook for these capsules was used to train the Mercury 7 astronauts for the Project Mercury flights. Capsule 13 (Friendship 7) was used in the Mercury-Atlas 6 mission; Capsule 16 (Sigma 7) was used in Mercury-Atlas 8; and Capsule 18 (Aurora 7) was used in Mercury-Atlas 7.
Manual runs over 100 pages, divided into three sections: Normal Procedures, Emergency Procedures and Trouble Shooting, featuring several pages of pull-out illustrations. An additional section titled Astronaut's Check List for both Normal and Emergency Procedures appears on card stock paper at back. Manual is housed in three-ring binder with forest green covers measuring 6.25'' x 7.5''. Near fine condition.
