Fred Haise signed 16'' x 20'' photo of the Apollo 13 ''Mailbox'' that famously allowed the astronauts to breathe oxygen within the Lunar Module. The square ''Mailbox'' was the CSM lithium hydroxide canister (which removed carbon dioxide from the air), improvised with plastic, lunar spacesuit hoses and duct tape to work inside the LM. Haise writes in black felt-tip, ''A lifesaving work around to use the 'square' LIOH cartridge from the CSM Odyssey to clear our air of CO2 building up! / Fred Haise / Apollo 13 LMP''. Satin-finish photo is in near fine condition.
