American Red Cross poster stating the mission of the Red Cross according to its congressional charter in 1905. Mission statement reads in part, ''...a system of national and international relief in time of peace and to apply the same in mitigating the sufferings caused by pestilence, famine, fire, floods, and other great national calamities...To furnish volunteer aid to the sick and wounded of armies in time of war...'' Poster was likely printed in 1981 for the American Red Cross' centennial, with the organization established in 1881 by Clara Barton. With Red Cross Centennial Memorabilia stamp on verso. Poster measures 11'' x 15.5''. Near fine condition.
