Revolutionary War General William Floyd autograph letter signed, composed to U.S. District Court Judge Robert Troup on 29 September 1785. Floyd, who is also a signer of the Declaration of Independence, here writes regarding an upcoming New York Supreme Court case of which Floyd is a party. Letter reads,

''Sir When I saw you last you mentioned to me that the Supreme Court would sit in New York the 3rd Tuesday in October, at which Court my cause with Hulot[?] might be tryed, But by the Judges who are now [?] I am informed that the Court at that time will be held at Albany, at which place I would not wish to have my Cause tryed. But I hope to have it tryed next Spring in this County, I expect to be at New York the last of next week when I shall have an opportunity of conversing further with you on the subject. / from Sir your humble Sevt / Wm. Floyd''.

Letter measures 6.5'' x 8'' with two additional leaves noting Robert Troup's name also present but detached from letter. Splits standing along folds with some chipping to edges. Uniform toning. Overall in good condition with bold handwriting. Accompanied by a vintage 5'' x 3'' photograph of William Floyd's home.
