Thomas Jefferson land grant signed as President, countersigned by James Madison as Secretary of State. Vellum document grants land in Jefferson County, Ohio according to the Land Act of 1796, dated 3 April 1806. Visible portion measures 15.25'' x 8.5'', framed to a size of 16.75'' x 10.25''. With intact wax-based paper seal at lower left. Toning along folds with minor foxing. Not examined out of frame, but appears in very good plus condition. Back of frame contains interesting information on the original landholders, ancestors of the consignor.
