Queen Victoria handwrites and signs a letter to her cousin, which she datelines Windsor Castle, 5 June 1851. Her majesty's royal cypher is printed in blue on the stationery. She writes in her first language, German: ''My dear honored Cousin: You have made me extremely happy through your dear letter from Ostend which you expressed yourself in so fondly and hearty a way over only your too short visits, which deeply touched me. This four weeks shall always be a very pleasant memory to me and I hope you will repeat your visit often. Permit me to here express myself how very happy I consider myself to count the Princess as my true dear friend, and how sincere my love my respect for this splendid woman is. We both also learn to love your two lovely children and you can consider yourself very happy to possess such children. With sorrow we read in the papers that you again had an accident on the R.R. let me express that there be more care taken in the future. God be praised that on the 31st, all went well. The celebration must have been truly beautiful. We are at Windsor on account of the Ascot Races…I remain always, Most honored cousin, Your very devoted cousin, Victoria.'' Lot includes a 6'' x 8.75'' print of a John Sartain etching of the Queen. 2pp. on card-style stationery measures 7'' x 8.75''. Toning, creasing and fading to vertical red line near left edge.
