Fred Haise's earpiece, custom made for Haise for the purpose of radio communication within the spacecraft, and also to record his temperature. Earpiece comes from the estate of Gordon L. Bisel, a hearing aid distributor in Houston, TX, who was commissioned by NASA in the early 1960s to take impressions of the Apollo astronauts' ears, and then fabricate the earpieces. Green colored earpiece is for Haise's right ear, with his initials ''FWH'' engraved in the mold, along with ''4 69'', the month and year it was created. Earpiece was created as an extra in April 1969 but was not used by Haise. Very good condition.
