Golden Globe from 1961 for Best Song, "Town Without Pity", awarded to songwriter Ned Washington. A noir classic, "Town Without Pity" has been covered at least 20 times since the 1961 release of the eponymous film, instantly recognizable by those who hear it. Statue is composed of a metal sculpture of a globe encircled by a film strip upon a decorative base mounted to a marble pedestal. The letters "HFPA" appear in the metal design beneath the globe. An engraved plaque is mounted to the marble pedestal, which features green felt backing to underside with the label of Hollywood Trophy Co., then maker of the Golden Globe awards. Measures 8.5" in height. Square base measures 3" x 3". Weighs 3 lb, 4 oz. Bright finish to gilt, likely re-plated, and with no significant flaws. Overall in exceptional, near fine condition.
