Ulysses S. Grant signs and inscribes the end of a letter requesting his autograph. Western Union Telegraph Company stationery is datelined New York, 1 September 1880, five years before Grant's death. The victorious Civil War general pens, ''With kindest regards, Yours Truly / U.S. Grant''. The original letter was sent by Pulitzer Prize winner Edward Bok, editor of the ''Ladies' Home Journal.'' Single 7.5'' x 9.5'' page is clipped slightly and mounted to paper. Light staining, else near fine.
