Hunter S. Thompson autograph letter signed, helping his friend Paul Semonin with a manuscript that Semonin had submitted to ''Ramparts'' magazine in San Francisco, whose editor, Robert Scheer, was running for Congress. Dated 11 May (1966), Thompson writes in full, ''Scheer's secy. called today with word on your ms. [manuscript]. No dice for now - Scheer seems on more or less leave of absence until after the election - she said she was told (by some other editor - not Scheer) to return the ms. You should get it in a week or so. If I were you I'd write Scheer & ask what's happening. This secy didn't know much. The ms. was just gathering dust. Let me know if you need more action here. - H''. Single page letter measures 8.5'' x 11''. Folds and light toning, in very good condition.
