James Madison land grant signed as President, countersigned by James Monroe as Secretary of State. Dated 29 February 1812, document grants one-quarter of a lot north of Chillicothe, Ohio, a result of an act passed by Congress to populate the the region. Vellum document measures 15.75'' x 8.875'', with wax-based paper seal at lower left. Folds, with light wear and discoloration to vellum. Very good condition.
