J.K. Rowling autograph letter signed, composed within a greeting card. Written on 11 September 1999 shortly after publication of the much anticipated third installment of ''Harry Potter'' and the height of Pottermania, Rowling writes in fine black felt-tip:
''Dear Brenda, / It was lovely to hear from you & to hear about the American friends' enthusiasm for Harry - book enclosed as requested! / Can't believe Nicolas is already 8, but then Jessica is six and that seems incredible to me too! / It's been a very hectic year & in a month we're off to the U.S. for a three week tour. Also just bought a new house as Daily Mail journalists keep turning up at this one and I'd like a bit more privacy! / I drove down Main Drive the other day, would you believe? A friend was driving me through Gerrards X and, knowing that I had often stayed there, took a right at the Buil Hotel. Brought back a million memories, I must say. / Yes - incredible that Mike's read the books. He seems to think he deserves a dedication for this - or possibly some sort of medal! Hope you & Ken are well. Lots of love, Jo X''.
Card opens to reveal the letter measuring 8.25'' x 6.25''. The recipient Brenda is the mother of Rowling's ex-boyfriend Michael, whom she dated when first writing ''Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone''. Near fine condition.
