Lot of two photos taken by David F. Barry, the western photographer who distinguished himself by his portraits of the Lakota people and U.S. military officers during the Frontier Wars. Both photos of the Little Bighorn battle site were taken on 25 June 1886 on the 10-year anniversary of the battle. First photo, signed by Barry in white ink ''Photo by Barry'', shows Reno Crossing, noted as ''Location of Indian village in 1876. Camp extended for 4 miles along river.'' Photo measures 9.375'' x 7.5'', with Barry's copyright stamp at lower right. Photo is affixed to black construction paper, on the verso of which is a photo of Reno Hill, the bluffs where Marcus Reno and his men retreated during the battle. Photo measures 9.5'' x 7.5''. Light surface wear and ''x'' drawn in pencil on the Reno Crossing photo, overall very good.
