Retained copy of the letter to James Dean from his agent Jane Deacy, dated 29 November 1954 to Dean at his home in Los Angeles. Deacy updates Dean on a number of issues, including potential roles, Dean's option with Warner Brothers, the Broadway director Herman Shumlin and also Rogers Brackett, the man who had a relationship with Dean in the early 1950s and decided to sue him for hotel bills once Dean secured the role in ''East of Eden''. Deacy writes in part, ''...Rogers Brackett called me just now, and he's on the warpath again. He wants some action. / The Theatre Guild wanted to know if you were available for a show...I had a nice talk with Herman Shumlin last week, and he asked about you. He said that he thought you were one of the great young actors of today, to which I not only concurred but told him what a great director you thought he was. / I hope you are happy in your new home. / Love, / Jane Deacy''. Single page measures 8.5'' x 11''. Toning and light wear, overall very good. From the estate of James Dean's agent, Jane Deacy.
