Retained copy of the letter to James Dean from his agent Jane Deacy, dated 12 August 1954 while Dean was filming ''East of Eden''. Deacy writes to Dean, care of Elia Kazan, apparently responding to a request from Dean as to his military draft status if he were to get married. Deacy writes, ''Jimmy, dear: I don't know what to tell you. I found out that if you get married, you have to advise your draft board, and whether they will re-examine you or re-classify you or what happens, I can't find out. / When are you coming home?...Love and kisses, / Jane Deacy''. Single page measures 8.5'' x 11''. Light wear and chipping to edges, overall very good condition. From the estate of James Dean's agent, Jane Deacy.
