Roald Dahl signed first edition of his classic novel, ''Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'', housed in original dust jacket. New York: Knopf, 1964 second printing with 5-line colophon on last page. Signed by Dahl in black felt-tip on the front pastedown, ''Janice / Love / Roald Dahl''. Bound in cloth boards with brown top edge, gilt lettering to spine and title design stamped to front, book measures 6.25'' x 9.5'' and runs 162pp. Dust jacket shows price of $3.95, though written over in pencil. Discreet writing to front cover, chipping, and some paper loss on and near spine; good plus condition. Book is slightly cocked and has the recipient Janice's name and bookplate to front free endpaper. Some abrasion to front endpaper. Very good condition. Rare as signed.
