George S. Patton, Jr. signed photo, inscribed in black fountain pen ''To the Mighty Midgets / from / G S Patton Jr.'' The so-called Mighty Midgets, coined by Patton, were the 1303rd Engineers, Co. F, who were attached to Patton's Third Army as he chased retreating Germans during World War II. The company built bridges almost as fast as the Germans destroyed them, causing Patton to say he had never seen so many little men do such a big job. Glossy photo measures 8.75'' x 11.5''. With ''Bill Van Luyn'' written in blue ballpoint on verso, who was part of the 1303rd. Some discreet vertical creases professionally restored. Overall in very good condition. With PSA/DNA COA.
