Robert Oppenheimer typed letter signed, dated 21 November 1955 on Office of the Director letterhead for Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study, also where Einstein served as resident scholar. Oppenheimer writes to a couple who made a donation in order to acquire a book ''in memory of Professor Einstein for the Institute library.'' Oppenheimer informs them that the book has been chosen, a 1592 volume by astronomer Giovanni Antonio Magini. Letter measures 8.5'' x 11'', accompanied by original envelope. Folds, overall near fine.
