Third edition from 1802 of ''Lyrical Ballads'' by William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. London: Printed for T.N. Longman and O. Rees, 1802. This highly influential two volume set of poetry launched the English Romantic movement when first published in 1798. It remains one of the most important works of poetry and includes Coleridge's poem ''The Rime of the Ancient Mariner''. Third edition includes the appendix ''Poetic Diction'' and expands upon the preface. Each book measures 4'' x 6.375'' and runs 200pp. and 250pp. respectively. In original boards, rebacked in leather with gilt embellishments to spine and maroon label. Previous owner's bookplate to pastedowns, previous owner's 1802 inscription to title page of volume I. Overall a lovely set in very good condition.
