Nice collection of NASA photos and autographs, including 14 photos on ''A Kodak Paper''. Archive likely originates from the collection of Laverne ''Verne'' R. Stelter, Chief of NASA Communications Division, and not only includes original photos, but also signatures of John Glenn and others, and PR materials such as a 1982 NASA press kit.
Ten of the photos on ''A Kodak Paper'' are from the Apollo 17 mission, with NASA press releases on verso, including the famous ''Blue Marble'' photo, a photo of Gene Cernan saluting the U.S. flag on the moon, another photo of Harrison Schmitt next to the flag on the moon, Cernan driving the Lunar Rover, several more of Cernan and Schmitt on the lunar surface, photos of the moon itself, and others. Glossy 10'' x 8'' fiber-based chromogenic prints are in very good to near fine condition, although one photo of the moon taken from the Lunar Module has some offsetting of type from another photo.
The other four photos on ''A Kodak Paper'' are somewhat unique in their production or size: one 10'' x 8'' photo is a half-glossy print from the Apollo 14 mission, showing Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell on the moon; 1.25'' abrasion to that photo, else very good. One glossy 8'' x 10'' photo with black number ''NASA G-65-763'' on margin shows Verne Stelter; very good condition. Photo of the lunar surface measuring 10'' x 8'' has a matte finish; very good plus condition. Lastly, a large 9.875'' square matte-finish photo shows a lunar module over the moon; curling at top, else very good plus.
Collection also includes 13 photos printed on ''GAF'' (General Aniline & Film) photo paper, some with NASA black numbers printed. Photos were likely produced for the General Aniline & Film company to complement their Viewmaster product, which they made at the time. Several of these photos have NASA press releases on verso, and appear to be from the Apollo 17 mission. Generally in very good condition, although some have type from another photo offset on the emulsion.
Lot also includes a slip signed by John Glenn measuring 3'' x 2.5'', and four signed photos of the STS-135 space shuttle crew. Dozens of other documents and photos complete the lot, including two black numbered photos, with no photo paper watermark on verso, and several black numbered photos of Stelter including one signed, also with no paper watermark on verso.
14 NASA Photos on ''A Kodak Paper'' Including Apollo 17 Blue Marble Photo -- Plus 13 Photos on ''GAF'' Photo Paper, Black Numbered Photos & John Glenn Signature
