Original Hal Foster preliminary artwork for the ''Prince Valiant'' comic strip, #2003 in the series. Pencil sketch was for the strip published on 29 June 1975, hand-drawn by Foster as the strip transitioned from Foster to John Cullen Murphy. Lot also includes a typed story outline, and separate typed story narration, with a autograph note signed by Foster to Murphy on the outline, explaining that an existing illustration and caption from a 1949 strip will be used for this strip as well. All three sheets measure 8.5'' x 11''. Three hole punch, paperclip impression at top, light soiling, and 1.25'' ''L'' shaped closed tear at top of sketch. Overall in good plus condition. From the John Cullen Murphy estate.
