Original Hal Foster lot of preliminary artwork for the ''Prince Valiant'' comic strip, #1831 in the series. Set of two pencil sketches were for the strip published on 12 March 1972, hand-drawn by Foster as the strip transitioned from Foster to John Cullen Murphy. In addition to the sketch for the strip, Foster also sketches an additional character, appearing on the verso of the strip sketch. A typed story outline, and separate typed story narration are also included. Sketch measures 8.5'' x 11''; typed pages measure 8'' x 10.5''. Three hole punch, and light creasing, overall in very good condition. From the John Cullen Murphy estate.
