Truman Capote's personal Bible, initialed "TC" in pencil on the title page, and also hand-edited throughout in red pencil. Capote famously used biblical references throughout "In Cold Blood", with the notations in this Bible likely used in writing "Answered Prayers", the novel published posthumously after his 1984 death. Most of the underlined passages concern Moses, with the Ten Commandments also underlined, Capote writing "Ten Commandments" next to it. The phrase "golden calf" is also underlined in one spot. Bible was published in 1979 by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bible measures 5.25" x 7.25" with a Bonhams lotting tag from the Truman Capote sale, consigned by Joanne Carson, with whom Capote lived when he passed in 1984. With an LOA from Los Angeles Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff, who was given the Bible by Carson.
