Andrew Carnegie typed letter twice-signed, with signed instructions to send 100 pounds to a fellow individual of Scottish descent. Andrew Carnegie checks are non-extant, with this letter as close to a signed check as one will find for the business magnate, with Carnegie writing specific instructions on verso in part,

[sterling] 100 Andrew Carnegie…"

Letter is composed on Carnegie's embossed stationery from his home at 5 West 51st St. in New York, writing to the check's recipient, Mr. Alexander Halliday, on 16 January 1899. Carnegie was born in Scotland, and here handwrites the exclamation, "'Scotland forever'…Andrew Carnegie". Sheet measures 7.75" x 9.75". Folds, else near fine with bold handwriting. Accompanied by original envelope.
