Berenice Abbott silver gelatin print of French author Rene Crevel, taken in 1928 while working under Man Ray. Semi-glossy photo measures 10.375'' x 13.375'', mounted to 16'' x 20'' board upon which Abbott signs in pencil, ''Berenice Abbott''. Also with Abbott's Maine address stamp on verso. Some light yellowing along lower edge of mat and a few spots of foxing, overall in very good condition. Acquired by John Robert Tennant Sr., photographer for the Smithsonian's National Gallery of Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and then by descent to consignor.
