Rare large-format Royal Air Force lithograph poster, designed to train World War I pilots the basics of flight. With the Wright Brothers having only completed their public airshows a decade earlier, a mastery of aviation - let along combat flying, was uncharted territory. Poster entitled ''Formation Flying - Take the Short Cut'' teaches pilots how to quickly get into formation with other British aircraft. Published by Air Technical Services, dated 17 December 1918. With Air Ministry and Royal Air Force stamps on verso. Two-tone lithograph measures 40'' x 27''. Light wear, and some closed tears, all confined to margins. Very good condition.
