Early 1919 edition of Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity, which would earn him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. Originally published in ''Annalen der Physik'', this 1919 German copy of Einstien's theory is considered the variant issue of the first separate edition published in 1916. Entitled ''Die Grundlage der allgemeinen Relativitatstheorie'' (''The Basis of the General Theory of Relativity''). Softcover runs 64pp., missing rear wrapper but with page of advertisements included. Measures 6.5'' x 9.25''. Chipping to pages, which are toned and brittle, with some pages detached. Good condition. Housed in a red cloth clamshell case, and then in a fine black custom slipcover measuring 7'' x 10.25'', with title on cover.
