James Madison land grant signed as President on 17 November 1812, signed ''James Madison'' at lower right. Madison awards seven acres of land to Walter Dun, an assignee for Captain John C. Carter, a military veteran whose service entitled him to the land. Vellum document measures 12.25'' x 16.25'', with red wax-based paper seal at lower left. Folds, a few small holes, and light wear, overall very good condition.
