Charming Stan Laurel typed letter signed, dated 4 August 1962 to his pen pal friend Bill Brown. Laurel covers a host of topics including not benefiting financially from the Laurel & Hardy brand. Uncorrected letter reads in part, ''...Glad you like the comic book, I too think its attractive as this type of magazine publications go, it is of course aimed for the kids, who I guess are not too critical as long as it amuses them...'' Laurel then remembers actors he worked with, including Ben Turner in ''Saps at Sea'', and also the woman in ''Bohemian Girl'' and ''Any Old Port'', asking ''does she appear on TV under the name of Julie Bishop?...Thanks for the snapshots of yourself & fiancee Kay - she very attractive - as for you - WE WO'NT GO INTO THAT.!!! / Interesting to hear about the silhouettes of L&H at the Red River Exposition & the coin machines in Winnipeg Beach - everybody makes money with L&H everybody but L&H. / My stroke slightly affect my Speech - when I'm in conversation with anyone or on the phone you would'nt notice it, but when I talk on a 'mike' I become concious of this slight impediment, & it bothers me very much - hence I never record on tape, so please understand my situation Bill, I prefer not to make taped letters...[signed] Stan Laurel''. Single page letter measures 5.5'' x 8.5'' on Oceana stationery, where he lived. Folds, else near fine. With original mailing envelope.
