Stan Laurel typed postcard signed, revealing the gentle nature of the beloved comedian. Laurel writes 8 days before his death to his pen pal friend William Starkell; dated 16 February 1965, uncorrected letter reads in part, ''...Yes, the Xray business is overwith - have to see the Dr. once a month for checkup plus some home care, its still quite sore & will be for a while yet. I was present in attendance to the OPENING OF THE FOX THEATRE with most of the Hollywood Stars of that era - a gala affair - big parade etc. later L&H played at the theatre for one week-special attraction in a revue type show...Yes, my 75th. is in next June - WHY BRING THAT UP!! I never did anything to you.!!...[signed] Stan Laurel''. Composed on Laurel's custom postcard, measuring 5.5'' x 3.25'' and postmarked 16 February 1965 on verso. Some toning and light wear, very good condition.
