Frederick Douglass document signed in his position as Recorder of Deeds for Washington, DC. Douglass signs the docketing ''Fred'k Douglass'' for an agreement enacted on 15 July 1884. After the Civil War, Republican Presidents appointed Douglass to various government positions including Recorder of Deeds as well as Minister and Consul General to Haiti. Four page bifolium document measures 8.5'' x 13.75'', with additional pages affixed with brad. Small areas of separation along folds, and mild wear, overall very good condition.
