'Gone With the Wind'' memo from producer David O. Selznick to the film's first director George Cukor regarding casting of the film. Dated 21 October 1938 on letterhead from Seznick's company, Selznick International Pictures, Inc., he updates Cukor and production manager Daniel O'Shea on the casting of Ashley Wilkes and Scarlett O'Hara. Memo reads in part, ''Jack Conway...told me he has a couple of new men he dug up that he intends to send over to me. / Jack has found and started an amazing number of new people who became stars, in his twenty-five or thirty years in the business, and I told him, of course, that we would be most interested in seeing these people, and asked him also to keep his eyes open for a Scarlett. / The point of this memo is that I think if possible George should see the men Jack is speaking of in connection with Ashley...I have no idea what the men are like - whether they are eighteen year old Glendale boys or fifty year old character actors...'' Jack Conway was a prolific studio director at the time. Memo measures 8.5'' x 5.5''. Near fine condition.
